G.L.I.S.: FAQs

1: Why?: GLIS will assist beginners and experts alike in installing Gentoo Linux.
2: No really, Why?: I'd like to say it was because of altruism but it's really more like laziness. Gentoo is without a doubt both the best Linux distribution and the most difficult to install. The Gentoo developers have done a great job at preparing the 20+ page installation guide but quite franlky if you do system administration for a living, the thrill of the load wears off after the first one. Build 6 or more servers and you are ready for a visit to the dentist without Novacane. It just made sense to spend countless hours building a system to save a few hours every year or so.
3: Seriously, Why?: Because nobody else had done it and it was a damn cool idea^TM.
4: What language is glis written in?: BASh (Bourne Again Shell)
5: Whose idea was it?: Nathaniel Callum
6: Will glis...Can glis...When will glis be able to...: If there is a feature missing the easist thing to do is stop bugging the developers (who all have real jobs) and write it. Grab the code from www.sf.net/glis and go to town. Once you've tested and documented it, send it to one of the developers and if they like it they will include it. If they don't like it, well, you've still got the feature you want...right?
If that's too much bother then add the request into Tracker on www.sf.net/glis. I'm sure someone will care one day.
